Spot1 Showa Kinen Park About 2 hour
This National Park was created to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Emperor Showa’s reign. Spanning over 180 hectares, this huge park boasts a variety of natural spaces and seasonal flowers offering different sceneries throughout the year. You can find also hammocks, playground equipment, sport facilities and popular spots like the “Children´s forest” or the “Barbecue garden”.
Accessibility Information
The Park has pathways with gentle slopes and without steps. In the children´s space “Wanpaku yugu” there are big size playground equipment universally designed, and chair-shaped or basket-shaped swings.

Travel Tips Exit the park at Tachikawa Gate. Take the elevator from the "Floating Garden" in the Green Culture Zone (free zone) to the 1st floor and head to the "Hanamidori Cultural Center" where the "Emperor Showa Memorial Museum" is located.

Spot2 Emperor Showa Memorial Museum About 20 minutes
The Emperor Showa Memorial Museum is located in the Showa Kinen Park’s Green Culture Zone, inside the Hanamidori Cultural Center. The Museum exhibits the botanical collection of the late Emperor Hirohito, as well as photos, personal belongings and documents related to him and his wife, the Empress Kojun.

Spot3 Tachikawa Life Safety Learning Center About 1 hour
The Center opened in 1992 as an experiential facility dependent of Tokyo Fire Department where you can learn and experience about disaster prevention. The Center is designed to help adults and children to acquire disaster preparedness knowledge and techniques, throughout the mini-theater images or enjoying themselves as they take part in earthquake simulations, initial firefighting and emergency first aid exercises, and learn the basic principles for escaping smoke inhalation. Groups can also ask for tours with specialist instructors for each section, so it´s better to ensure the service doing reservation by phone or on the web page.

Spot4 Polar Science Museum About 20 minutes
The Museum provides information on historical and current research activities and results regarding Earth´s Polar regions. In the Aurora Theater, you can admire images of auroras, and in the Exhibition Hall you will find many items, like an Ice Core drill, a snow vehicle used in the Antarctica, taxidermy specimens of a polar bear and other wildlife; meteorites said to come from Mars and the moon, rocks or ice from the Antarctica and more, all authentic. Here, visitors can get information about research in the Poles that may have the key to understand our present or even our future.

Spot6 Tamashin Art Museum
This museum opened in May 2020 in the new headquarters building of the Tama Shinkin Bank. The Museum features the works by writers working in or associated with the Tama area, wonderful pictures and statues and also a variety of old ceramics and porcelains from China and Japan.
