Facilities on the Kozushima

Restaurants

  1. Kozushima Ryugu

This restaurant serves dishes that contain fresh fish from Kozushima. For lunch, you can enjoy set menus of boiled local fish and sashimi, and for dinner, local fish dishes and snacks, as well as island sushi and soy sauce-flavored rice with iwanori seaweed, a local delicacy. The owner runs the restaurant by himself, so advance reservations are recommended. There are two steps from the parking lot in front of the restaurant to the entrance, but the floor inside the restaurant is flat, including the entrance to the restrooms.

  3. Sawaya Cordon bleu

This was a French restaurant that operated for 28 years in Kyoto, but moved to a closed ryokan on Kozushima in 2016. Local fish and vegetables are used in abundance and are deliciously sautéed, smoked, served in salads, soups, and other dishes. The unique Japanese-style architecture of the island has a large step down at the entrance, but the tables and chairs are movable, making it possible to be seated in a wheelchair. Due to the limited number of seats, we recommend that you contact us in advance to confirm or make a reservation.

Accommodation

  1. Shinpachi

The inn is one of the few on the island with guest rooms on the first floor, and is run by a husband-and-wife team. They serve local cuisine using local fish and vegetables, such as Ashitaba leaves, grown in the garden by the wife.
All guest rooms are Japanese-style rooms, but upon request, a bed can be made in a room on the first floor of the annex building. If you wish to have a bed in your room, please let us know at the time of reservation. As is characteristic of island houses, the entranceway has a high staircase, so wheelchair users will need assistance to enter and exit the house.

This two-story rental house was renovated from a vacant house and opened in 2023. It is a spacious, quiet, and private space located behind the elementary school above the village. It is almost at the same level as Yotane Square, so you can enjoy the sunset over the ocean and the starry sky at night. There are three bedrooms, a living room, kitchen, toilet, and bathroom. The bedrooms on the first floor are basically furnished with futons, but beds (mattresses with legs) can be prepared if requested at the time of reservation. If you wish to use a bed, please contact us in advance. No meals are provided, so you can either enjoy the taste of the island at a local restaurant or get your own food from a supermarket and cook it in the kitchen.
