Its attractions are Tenjosan, the island's symbol and mythical mountain, as well as white sand beaches and cobalt blue sea. There, the sky is like a natural planetarium. The mountains, sea, and sky offer a beautiful and rich natural experience every season, at any time of day. Fishing is the main industry, and the catch ranks first in Tokyo. You can enjoy fresh fish such as Splendid alfonsino, along with local vegetables such as Ashitaba.

Kozushima Port(Kozushima Port Passenger Waiting Room Macchare Center)
One of the two ports of entry and departure on Kozushima, Kozushima Port is located on the west side of the island, near the village. The first floor of the Machare Center, a passenger waiting room, has a counter for the Kozushima Tourist Association, which provides luggage storage services and tourist information. The second floor is a mini-visitor center with a rest area, a display of tourist information, and an observation deck.
Accessibility Information
There are no steps at the entrance and inside of the facility, and Braille blocks are laid out along the main flow lines in the waiting room. An elevator is available to allow wheelchair users to reach the second floor. The boarding ramp is a stairway and wheelchair users must be assisted by staff.

Miura Fishing Port(Miura Fishing Port Passenger Waiting Room)
One of the two ports of entry and departure on Kozushima, this port is located in Tako Bay, on the east side of the island. Entry is not permitted on days when passenger ships depart from Kozushima Port.
Accessibility Information
Due to the sloping road surface in front of the building, there are several steps, but the left side facing the front is at the same level as the road surface, allowing entry without any difference in step level.
As with Kozushima Port, the boarding ramp is a staircase, so wheelchair users must be assisted by staff.Restroom Information

Spot1 Kozushima Village Museum of History
About 30min-1hoursThis archive preserves and passes on materials and cultural assets related to the history and folklore of Kozushima. The nature, folklore, and history of the island, from ancient times to the present day, are displayed in a variety of ways, including buildings, panels, videos, and dioramas. There are obsidian gemstones, obsidian folk tools used in the Stone Age, artifacts believed to belong to an Edo Period Sengoku Boat, and the “bonito fishing ritual” that originated in the fishing industry, fisherman being the main occupation of the island and is still practiced today.
Accessibility Information
The two-story building has an elevator that allows wheelchair access from the parking lot at the front of the facility to the upper floors. There are Braille blocks on the floor from the entrance to the elevator, as well as in front of and behind the elevator and stairs.

Spot2 Maehama Beach / Mizukubari Monument About 30min
Just south of Kozushima Port, beautiful white sand stretches for about 800 meters. Since it is close to the village, visitors can enjoy swimming and playing on the rocky shore, as well as morning walks, picnics by the ocean, sunset viewing, and many other activities.
The “Mizukubari monument,” located 200 meters from the northern end of the beach, is a monument that represents a myth related to the creation of the Izu Islands and the subsequent distribution of water to each island. Pressing a button at a low point produces water, allowing visitors to feel the abundance of water on the islands.Accessibility Information
The parking lot of the Yocchare Center at Kozushima Port and the Mouri Parking Lot near the middle of the beach are available. The pedestrian crossing in front of the Mouri Parking Lot on the mountain side of the Kozu main road (Metropolitan Road 224) has no traffic signal, so please be careful when crossing.
The area near the Mizukubari monument is a wooden deck accessible from the sidewalk on Kozu Main Road.Restroom Information

Spot3 Akasaki Walking Path
About 30min-1hoursThis is the most popular spot on Kozushima. In summer, many tourists enjoy snorkeling and diving. A wooden boardwalk about 500 meters long is set on a steep, rugged rocky beach. The gentle curves and slopes of the boardwalk make the sea breeze and the sound of the waves pleasant.
Accessibility Information
You can move from the parking lot to the boardwalk and bridge without encountering any steps. The gradient is about 7 to 8° at the larger areas. Access to the observation deck and jumping board is by stairs only.

Spot4 Nagahama Beach About 20min
This beach is also called Goshiki-hama for of its colorful pebbles. The area from Buttoshi-iwa to Nagahama Beach, about 500 m south, is the shrine area of the Awanomikoto Shrine, which is located inland, and we are told that visitors will be punished if they bring back stones from this beach.

Spot5 Sawajiri Beach About 30min
This is a beautiful beach with a white arc-shaped beach in the small Sawajiri Bay. Because it is located at the end of a cove, the waves are calm. About 200 meters along Sawajiri Bay from the parking lot in the direction of Kozushima Port is a photo frame created by students of a local junior high school. There is also a camera stand, so you can take a commemorative shot with Sawajiri Bay in the background.

A ramp from the main Kozu road to the seawall terrace is located on the north side of the beach. There are stairs from the terrace to the beach.

Spot6 Arima Observation Deck
About 30min-1hoursThis is a spectacular spot with a view of Maehama and Tenjo Mountain on the west side of the island, as well as a popular place for stargazing. “Julia's Cross” on the path leading from the parking space to the observatory was built in memory of Julia Ota, a Christian brought from Korea by Yukinaga Konishi in the 16th century, who served the people of the island and ended up here. The 10-meter-high white cross stands out against both the blue sky and the night sky.
Accessibility Information
The parking space is unpaved, but the ramp (approx. 2 m wide, 9° slope) to Julia’s Cross and the path to the observation deck behind it are paved.

Spot7 Yotane Square
About 30min-1hoursThis is one of the most popular stargazing spots on Kozushima, which has been recognized as a Starry Sky Protected Area. Thanks in part to its unobstructed location and efforts to maintain a dark night sky, visitors can enjoy a planetarium-like starry sky. Located on a hill behind the village, it commands a panoramic view of the village and Maehama beach, and in the evening is also a good place to watch the sunset over the sea.
Star gazing by islander guides who have taken the Kozushima Starry Sky Guide Training Course is held at 8:15 p.m. at Yotane Square (advance reservations required).Accessibility Information
The area from the parking lot to the plaza with views of the village and the ocean is wheelchair accessible via a flat concrete paved parkway. The permeability of the fence allows wheelchair users to safely enjoy the view.

Located in the southeastern part of the island, this observatory overlooks Miura Bay below, as well as Miyakejima and Mikurajima to the east. On a clear day, Hachijojima can be seen beyond the horizon.

Spot9 Tako Marushima
20~30minMarushima is a small island with beautiful white sandy beaches located on the south side of Miura Fishing Port Pier in Tako Bay. When the tide recedes, visitors can walk across to Marushima, which was once dedicated to the god Benten. For the islanders, "The white beach of Tako Bay, the floating Marushima Island, and the local view of Tenjo Mountain" are symbols of their hometown. The scenery can be enjoyed from the pier and pergola.

Spot10 Tako Spring Water About 10min
Kozushima Island, with its mythology of the creation of the Izu Islands and water distribution, is blessed with water, including underground water and spring water. Tako spring water flows down from the surface of a rock facing Tako Bay and is used by the islanders on a daily basis. Selected as one of the 57 best springs in Tokyo, the water is smooth and pleasant to the palate. Bring a water bottle with you when you visit.

Kozushima Hotspring Recreation Center
This is a hot spring recreation center run by Kozushima Village. It is used by islanders on a daily basis and by tourists after swimming or climbing mountains. There are separate large public baths for men and women in the building, as well as an open-air bath built on natural rocky terrain.
Accessibility Information
It is built with a difference in elevation, with separate men's and women's baths on the first floor being at the same level as the front road, and the entrance, reception area, and rest area on the second floor. The parking lot is on the second floor level, and a 4° ramp leads to the entrance. There is no elevator in the building, and a stair lift is installed on the stairs connecting the second and first floors.
There is a passageway under the front street to the open-air baths, but wheelchair users can use the entrance on the street side.

On the way to the Kuroshima trailhead of Tenjosan Moutain, there is a place where a cold wind blows through a gap in the bank. You can feel the cool air when you put your hand in.

Awanomikoto Jinja Shrine
Awamikotono Shrine, located in a valley off the Nagahama Beach, is an ancient shrine mentioned in the Engishiki, and is said to be dedicated to the Awanomikoto, the legal wife of Mishima Taisha Shrine. The beach, sea sand, surrounding topography, and vegetation around the shrine precincts are consistent with the description in the “Syoku Nihon Koki” dated 840, and are valuable relics that tell the story of the location of an ancient shrine.
Accessibility Information
The approach to the shrine from Nagahama Beach’s parking lot is stone-paved, with some unpaved sections with raised tree roots and stone steps along the way. The main shrine is located at the level of eight stone steps up from the hand-watering basin and ten more stone steps up to the main shrine.

Tokoji Temple
This is the only temple on the island, and belongs to the Jodo sect of Buddhism, with a mountain called Enmeizan and the principal image of Amida Nyorai. It was built in 1639 as a branch temple of Kaizenji Temple in Izu-Shimoda. Almost every house on the island belongs to a parishioner, and devoted believers can be seen visiting the temple in the morning and evening.

Exile Cemetery
Hachijojima, Miyakejima, and Oshima were designated as penal colonies during the Nara period (710-794), while Kozushima and Mikurajima were sent exiles after the Edo period. In this exile cemetery, there are the remains of exiles who were mainly political or religious criminals, such as Julia Ota, Nissho Daitoku, and other priests of the Nichiren-shu Fujufuse sect.

Marushima Souvenir Shop
This is located right next to Kozushima Port, at the only intersection that uses a traffic light on the island. Inside the log house, you will find a wide variety of products, such as gyosan (colorful sandals worn by fishermen on boats), floats, and other sea-related items, as well as Kozushima specialties, processed agricultural products, T-shirts, original goods, and more. Get souvenirs that you can only find here.
