Starting with Tokyo Skytree behind you, you'll pass through the the nostalgic streets of Asakusa, then go through the lively Kuramae area, before heading towards the modern streets of Nihonbashi. Despite its short distance, this route offers a fascinating transition from traditional neighborhoods to the modern cityscape.
Points of Interest around the Course

Sensoji Temple
Sensoji Temple is the oldest temple in Tokyo and was likely founded during the Asuka period. Upon passing through Kaminarimon Gate, you can find Nakamise Shopping Street: a street around 250 m long and lined with souvenir and confectionery shops. You can experience good old-fashioned Tokyo there, rich with Shitamachi spirit.

Kaminari-mon Gate
Originally built by the military commander Taira no Kinmasa in 942, Kaminari-mon Gate is the main gate of Senso-ji. Statues of Fujin (the god of wind) and Raijin (the god of thunder) were enshrined here to guard the temple from natural disasters. The gate was burned down in a massive fire that had broken out in neighboring Tawaramachi in December 1865. 95years later,the current gate was rebuilt with a donation by Konosuke Matsushita, founder of Matsushita Electric (currently Panasonic Corporation) in 1960.

Kokugikan(Sumo Hall)
Kokugikan, also known as Sumo Hall, is the sacred venue of sumo wrestling in Japan. Visitors can witness thrilling sumo matches and immerse themselves in traditional Japanese culture. Inside the arena, the Sumo Museum offers exhibits on sumo history and a gift shop where tourists can learn more about the sport’s deep-rooted heritage.

Sumida Park
Taito City Sumida Park
A beautiful park stretching along the Sumida River, where about 700 cherry trees bloom in spring. A cherry blossom festival is held here every year, providing visitors with an enjoyable time.

Hanayashiki Amusement Park
Known as Japan's oldest amusement park, established in 1853, with a charming retro atmosphere. It features attractions such as roller coasters, traditional playground equipment, and shops reminiscent of traditional Japanese festivals, making it enjoyable for both adults and children. The oldest existing roller coaster in Japan is particularly worth seeing.
