THE ROAD RACE TOKYO TAMA 2023 COURSE

You can enjoy cycling, hiking, camping, and other outdoor activities in the nature-filled Tokyo Tama area. This course, which passes through the Tokyo Tama area, is composed mainly of the Tokyo course used for the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 , and served as the stage for the cycling road race held in 2023. Enjoy the beautiful scenery such as the avenue of ginkgo trees, as you run through a full-scale course spanning over 70 km that crosses eight cities.

ONEKAN(Minamitamaone-Kansendoro Ave.)
The Tama Hills has moderate ups and downs and is wide making it popular with cyclists.

Misawa river cherry tree corridor
The Misawa river cherry tree corridor is about 1.7 kilometers long and has about 320 cherry blossom trees. You can see spectacular sceneries in the spring.

Tama River
The Tama River Cycling Road is a famous spot where all sections are paved and easy to ride. There is often a pleasant breeze in the area along the Tama River. It is the perfect place to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city center. Enjoy a walk while gazing at Mt. Fuji on a sunny day.

Koganei Park
One of Tokyo's largest and best parks for families and cherry blossom viewing
Koganei Park has over 1,400 cherry blossom trees and is renowned as one of the most famous cherry blossom viewing spots in Tokyo, drawing large crowds during the spring season.

Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum
It is a museum built by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government in 1993 that appeals to architecture aficionados and history buffs at heart. The architecture is hundreds of years old. Here, you can discover much about the hidden culture of Japan.

One Ryokudo
Ryokudo means a type of park, a pathway for pedestrians or bicycles. The One Ryokudo in Tama is famous for its cherry blossom trees. Take in nature fully while walking.

Machida Squirrel Garden
A squirrel garden in Machida. You can get interact with cute wild squirrels.

Sakuragaoka Park
You can stroll through the forest and enjoy different views of the park that change with the elevation. There is also the western-style Former Tama Seiseki Memorial Hall, which was constructed to commemorate the visit of Emperor Meiji to this area.

Find lots of "kawaii" (cuteness)!
At this theme park, you can immerse yourself in the world of Hello Kitty and other Sanrio characters. This place is bursting with vibrant colors and overflowing with more "kawaii" than you can imagine.

Jindaiji Temple
Jindaiji Temple Daruma Doll Fair, one of the attractions that bring spring to Tokyo
People have come here for more than 1,000 years to pray for protection from bad luck and for luck with matchmaking. It also houses the Buddha Shakyamuni, the oldest Buddhist statue in eastern Japan and the only national treasure in a temple in Tokyo.

Koshu-Kaido Ave,

Hachioji Castle Ruins
Step back in time at the Hachioji Castle Ruins
It was built at the end of the Warring States period by the Hojo clan, which held much power in the Kanto region. Perched on the steep slopes of Mt. Fukasawa, also known as Hachioji Castle Mountain, it is reputed to be one of the largest mountain castles in the Kanto region.

Fuchunomori Park
The park is located on the grounds of a former U.S. military base and features an art theater, art museum, and various other cultural amenities, providing entertainment for all visitors.

Buaiso
Traditional farmhouse from the prewar era
Buaiso is renowned as the last residence of Shirasu Jiro, a businessman who served under former Prime Minister Yoshida Shigeru after World War II, and the essayist Shirasu Masako. The wooden house with its thatched roof gives a glimpse of the couple's sophisticated lifestyle.

Misawa river Flower festival of cherry tree and pear
The festival is usually held around March to April each year. The event is set against the cherry and pear blossom season along the Misawa River and offers a variety of attractions including food stalls, kitchen cars, stage performances, and other entertainment. The cherry blossom trees surrounding Inagi City Hall are illuminated in the evening.

Kurayami Matsuri (Darkness Festival)
The festival is usually held around April to May each year. The Kurayami Festival is the largest annual festival at Okunitama Shrine in Fuchu City and is designated as an Intangible Folk Cultural Property by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. The name comes from the ancient tradition of holding the portable shrine procession in the dark when all city lights are turned off at midnight. The main festival takes place on May 5. At 6:00 p.m., fireworks signal the commencement of the event, and six large drums that are the largest in the country resound as if to evoke earth tremors. This signifies the beginning of the portable shrine procession, known as ""Oide." 800,000 people come to the festival.

Hajiouji Festival
The festival is usually held in August. It is the largest in Hachioji City. One of the most renowned aspects of the festival is the exquisite decoration of the floats, considered among the finest in the Kanto region. Nineteen gorgeously carved floats parade down Koshu Kaido with festive music playing Witnessing 1,600 people carrying the Sengan Mikoshi (portable shrine), which weighs approximately three tons, is a remarkable and powerful sight.

Chofu City Fireworks Festival
The festival is usually held in September. One of the best fireworks festivals in the Kanto region, set on the banks of the Tama River. The history of Chofu's fireworks dates back many years, with the first event held in 1933. The beauty and grandeur of the fireworks are widely regarded as some of the finest in Japan.
